So that’s the secret

Monday, April 16th, 2012

pimpCOLOR So thats the secretThe idea for this cartoon came from what I always thought was the buttoned-down, straight arrow image that the Secret Service has always seemed to have.  This hooker scandal is so at odds with that perception that it got me thinking it would be fun to “pimp out” and agent.

You may feel a little pressure

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

stripCOLOR You may feel a little pressureAnd the strip searches apply to people with minor infractions–not wearing a seat belt, failing to signal, disorderly conduct, failing to have your dog on a leash.  This court, Justice Kennedy included, have ruled that the police can’t be bothered with figuring out who is a serious threat who needs to be searched and someone who forgot to buckle up.  For a conservative court that professes concern about the overreach of “Big Government” this is quite an overreach–reaching right into your bum.

Bowing out

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

goCOLOR Bowing outThis cartoon was done Monday.  Today comes the word that, indeed, Santorum has seen the writing on the wall and has suspended his campaign.  Given his appeal to a certain evangelical slice of the base and the fact that he’s still a  relatively young man, we  probably haven’t seen the last of Rick.

Loooooong shot

Friday, March 30th, 2012

megaCOLOR Loooooong shotI heard today an estimate that the money spent on lotteries every year comes out to roughly $500 per person in the United States.  When you think about it, as much as people gripe  about being forced to pay taxes, lotteries amount to voluntary taxation.

Answer cloudy

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

broccoliCOLOR Answer cloudyOne of the through-the-looking-glass aspects of this court challenge is that conservatives are attacking an individual mandate that was introduced in 1993 by a Republican, championed by the conservative Heritage Foundation and implemented in Massachusetts by a GOP governor.  That governor is now running around the nation denouncing a health care plan that was modeled on his own.  Weird times, indeed.
