The awkward offering of a big bet during the last GOP debate isn’t that big a deal in isolation. The problem is that it adds to existing suspicions that Mitt isn’t comfortable in his own skin, that he’s not a genuine person you could share a beer with. Romney’s advisors are probably breathing a sigh of relief that he didn’t want to bet a million dollars.
