Tuesday, May 25th, 2010The president has faced predictable criticism from the right that the BP oil spill is “Obama’s Katrina.” That has always struck me as conflating two disasters that are very different and also a way to mitigate George W. Bush’s turgid response to Katrina. But now Obama is facing criticism from the left for leaving too much of the response to the oil spill to the good graces of BP, a critique that carries a sting coming from environmentalists who backed the president. Fair or not, the perception seems to be taking hold that he certainly seems to be taking his good natured time as oil continues to spew.
