The defeat of Mary Landrieu leaves Dems even further behind in the Senate. The quandary now is whether the party continues to pursue the region or just writes it off as hostile territory and focuses elsewhere.
Ok, so Republicans didn’t exactly run on nothing, but their agenda, such as it was, overwhelmingly consisted being against most anything that was proposed by the Obama administration. Perhaps the party of obstruction can pivot to actually governing, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
Maybe Dems would have lost anyway had they embraced some of Obama’s accomplishments. But at least they would have stood for something.
The lines about conviction and intensity may sound familiar. They’re from the poem “The Second Coming” by William Butler Yeats.
