The Donald is one of those figures in public life that I feel conflicted about. On the one hand, he’s a total buffoon, a reality-show-host-birth certificate-denying-egomaniacal-doofus. On the other hand, he’s so outrageous that he’s an amusing distraction.

Now, they’re unloading on him for keeping a campaign promise to withdraw troops from Iraq, a move that most Americans support. The ironic twist is that this disastrous timetable is one that was drawn up by George W. Bush. Credit that.

The Republicans have apparently met a tax cut that they don’t like. It seems that letting the payroll tax cut expire is OK, since it only benefits the poor and middle class. It says a lot about how the real constituency of the modern GOP is.
