Newt is infamous for spinning out ideas almost indiscriminately, some good, some bad, some atrocious. Having grown up in the 1960s with all its optimistic predictions about all the amazing things we’d do in the future, I have a kind of fond nostalgia when Gingrich talks about stuff like mining colonies on the moon.

Newt’s campaign if off to a spectacularly awful, and very amusing, start. The weird thing is that he was absolutely right and reasonable in his remarks about the Ryan plan for dismantling Medicare. Shows that centrism is a liability in the current Tea Party-dominated GOP.
