A fine whine

Friday, November 16th, 2012

cliffCOLOR A fine whineMitt didn’t care about those lazy “takers” in the 47 percent.  Then he said that remark was all a horrible mistake and he didn’t mean it.  Now–what do you know–it turns out that he really WAS telling the truth the first time around.  Why didn’t the people who he clearly holds in contempt rally to his side?

Radioactive

Paul Ryan plan is radioactiveIn the last couple weeks Wisconsin’s own Paul Ryan has gone from being the GOP’s wunderkind to an albatross for the party.  It seems that when people realize how radical the plan is–in Newt Gingrich’s own words–they have little stomach for it.  The Ryan plan has quickly gone from magnetic to radioactive.

GOP budget roadmap a guide to nowhereWe will be presented with a truly radical budget proposal this week from Wisconsin’s own conservative poster boy Paul Ryan.  It shifts Medicaid to a black grant given to states and converts Medicare to a plan that no longer guarantees care to seniors, but subsidizes private insurance.  You have to give it to conservatives, their push to dismantle the social safety net is nothing if not relentless.  Oh, and at the same time their budget increases the financial burden on the middle class and poor, it cuts taxes on the wealthiest.
