What began as a breathtaking overreach on the part of our new governor has grown into a national, even international, cause celebre. And don’t let anyone tell you it’s strictly a “modest” effort to get wage and benefits concessions from the public sector employees. They’ve already agreed to that. This is union busting, not-so-pure and simple.

Wisconsin’s governor-elect fulfills a campaign promise and rejects $810 million in federal funding that would have gone to building a midwest high-speed rail system connecting Chicago, Milwaukee and the Twin Cities. Our conservative warrior also rejected all the jobs and spin-off investments that would have gone with it. States like California and Florida gleefully accept the money and realize why we’re called cheeseheads.
