Not that I’m advocating violent riots, but I’ve found myself watching protests against austerity measures in Europe with a grudging admiration. They’re mad as hell and not afraid to let the government know it by lighting a bonfire or two in the street. Or throwing placards at cops, whatever. It may be messy, but it somehow seems preferable to the American way: bending over and taking one job-related indignity after another.
